LEIGHTON JONES, HECTOR MACINNES, MAGNUS GRAHAM and DAVID MACLEOD are... THE DEAD MAN'S WALTZ
“They fuse Weimar cabaret, the accordion of Yann Tiersen and the theatricality of Beirut and Bellowhead for a series of minor-key ditties that creep stealthily, arm in arm, towards the site of a murder ballad, preferably one beside a stagnant pool in an overgrown forest.”
The Herald
“The Dead Man’s Waltz find the common ground between the bleak tragedy of the island folk ballads and the more flamboyant execution of the European cabaret tradition.”
The Scotsman
The Dead Man's Waltz's music describes a weird arc of destruction and menace through the history of the last century. A litany of small-town crimes and dark romances is set to a musical backdrop that ranges from sweet melancholy to thunderous chants. Coming from the Isle of Skye on the west coast of Scotland, a place steeped in both music and myth-making, they are now known across the country for their genre-defying storytelling and blistering live performances.
Following the release of their debut album, the creation of a celebrated series of experimental music, spoken word and film performances a the Glasgow Short Film Festival, Summerhall in Edinburgh and the Insider Festival, a further single and a short break, the Dead Man's Waltz are set to return in 2017 to celebrate their tenth birthday (in various guises...) with a tour and two further singles - as weird, as badass and as wonderful as ever.
